KKOMIQO

PRIVACY NOTICE

Your shelf is personal. We treat it that way.

A plain-English explanation of what Komiqo knows about you, why it is needed, who receives it and the controls you have.

Effective and last updated: 22 September 2026

Who is responsible

KOMIQO LTD (company number 17471659) is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. Its registered office is 128 Saltergate, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, United Kingdom, S40 1NG. This notice applies to the Komiqo website, manga collection tools, catalogue, marketplace and support service.

Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to contact@komiqo.co.uk.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Komiqo, we collect:

  • account details, including email address, display name, collector handle and account status;
  • your collection, reading status, wishlist, catalogue corrections and preferences;
  • delivery contact details and address when you use marketplace features;
  • listings, photographs, offers, messages, orders, cancellations, disputes and feedback;
  • support requests and communications with us; and
  • technical and security data such as IP address, device or browser information, referring page, pages viewed and timestamps.

We receive most information directly from you. We also generate transaction and security records when you use the service and receive delivery updates from the delivery services used for an order.

Why we use it

We use personal information to provide and secure your account; sync and export your collection; publish listings; connect buyers and sellers; support delivery, cancellation and dispute workflows; answer support requests; prevent fraud and misuse; moderate content; understand service performance; and meet legal obligations.

Our legal bases are performance of our contract with you, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving Komiqo. Where the law requires consent, we will ask for it and you may withdraw it.

Who receives information

We share only what is reasonably needed with:

  • the buyer or seller involved in your transaction;
  • delivery booking providers and the chosen parcel carrier, so quotes, labels and tracking can be provided;
  • hosting, database, email, content-safety and customer-support suppliers working for Komiqo;
  • catalogue data providers when you deliberately use a wider book search; and
  • regulators, courts, law enforcement or professional advisers where legally necessary.

We do not sell personal information. Suppliers may process information outside the UK; where required, we use recognised transfer safeguards.

What other members can see

Your collector handle, seller feedback and public listings can be visible to other visitors. A shelf is public only if you enable that setting. Buyers and sellers can see the information needed to communicate and complete their order. Your email address and full delivery details are not made generally public.

Cookies and analytics

Komiqo uses a secure, HTTP-only session cookie to keep signed-in members authenticated. Operational analytics use first-party server records to count visits, pages, referrers and likely automated traffic. Komiqo does not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Account and collection information is kept while your account remains open. When you delete your account, profile data, collection data, listings, messages and owned uploads are removed from the active service. Backup copies expire through the normal backup cycle.

Some order, refund, dispute, safety and audit records may be retained in an anonymised or restricted form for up to six years where reasonably needed for tax, legal obligations, fraud prevention or legal claims. We keep other technical and support records only for as long as they are needed for their purpose.

Your choices and rights

You can update account details, control whether your shelf is public, export your collection and delete your account from Account settings. UK data-protection law may also give you rights to be informed, access or correct information, request erasure or restriction, receive portable data, object to processing, and complain.

Contact us to exercise a right. We may need to verify your identity. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Security and age limit

We use single-use sign-in links, secure session cookies, access controls, content checks, rate limits and backups. No online service can promise absolute security, so please report anything suspicious promptly.

Komiqo accounts are intended for people aged 18 or over. Do not create an account if you are under 18.

Changes and contact

We may update this notice as Komiqo develops. Material changes will be highlighted in the service or sent to account holders where appropriate.
